International rock trio Bored Spies announce European tour dates and debut single
Bored Spies have just announced the release of their debut single Summer 720 (A side) alongside ‘沙鼠E‘ (B side), now available on 7” vinyl and digitally worldwide.
Inspired by the likes of Brian Eno, the band mix traditional song structures with progressive rock elements, exploring the space between pop and abstract minimalism.
Formed in early 2012, the international trio are currently based in Singapore, Seoul and Arizona with a line up featuring Singaporean singer/guitarist Cherie Ko (Obedient Wives Club, Pastelpower) on vocals, and Orestes Morfin (Bitch Magnet) and Panther Lau (Seam).
The single (Summer 720 b/w 沙鼠E) was recorded over two summery weekends with Marshall Wood (Dead Child, The Fire Theft, Tortoise) at Seagrass Studio in LA and Snakeweed Studios in Singapore and mixes a mellow melody, careful guitar, and subdued beats, highlighted by gentle phrasing and Ko’s crushing vocal harmonies, a centerpiece of the band’s sound.
Pre-production has commenced for a full-length album due later this year and the band will make their European debut in May with a slot at Primavera Sound, followed by a tour of Spain and the UK, and a tentative US tour planned for August 2013.
